The Engel & Völkers Classic kicked off our Fall Season with an 8 goal exhibition match up between Listo Polo and Propaganda.
Grace Burgert taking the lead.
Michel Dorginac and Ignacio Saenz of Listo Polo opened with one goal a piece, both goals were left unanswered by Propaganda after the first chukker. Listo Polo’s Kelly Plato converted a penalty 3 into his first goal of the match followed by Saenz and Propaganda’s Mason Wroe trading goals. Wroe’s goal was Propaganda’s first field goal made and was added to their handicap goal awarded at the start of the match. In the final play of the second chukker Saenz made a lengthy drive down the side boards to put up another goal for Listo Polo.
Propaganda surged back in the third with 2 unanswered goals by Nick Cifuni and Wroe. Listo Polo led 5 to 4 headed into halftime. Sunday’s crowd got in on the action by stopping divots and sipping complementary champagne while both teams hopped on fresh horses. Cifuni tied the fourth up for Propaganda by scoring the lone field goal of the chukker. Saenz took charge in the fifth chukker scoring 2 goals for Listo Polo and in the sixth chukker extended the lead by one more goal, ending the game 8 to 5 Listo Polo.

Congratulations to Sloan Stefanakis!
Since 1987 the Polo Training Foundation (PTF) has selected Interscholastic players each year in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the sport. This year the PTF has chosen one male and one female athlete who were selected through their participation in USPA Interscholastic programs based on playing ability, contribution to the sport and sportsmanship. We would like to congratulate one of our very own members, Sloan Stefanakis, on his achievement of 2017 Interscholastic Player of the Year.
